4-H EXPLORE STEM

Our EXPLORE STEM classes invite students in grades 2 and up to experience STEM and STEAM in a supportive, accessible, collaborative, hands-on projects. 

Description: This class is an introduction to block-based coding for girls in second, third, and fourth grade. Students will also learn about basic computer science. Making programming feel more accessible, welcoming, and exciting.

Description – Girls will have hands-on projects that focus on the E (engineering) and T(technology) of STEM. Making STEM feel more accessible, welcoming, and exciting. Students will complete several engineer challenges and build tiny a robot to take home.

Description:

See what engineering design is all about by transforming cardboard into cool creations. Why cardboard, it is easy eco-friendly (repurpose & reuse), and easy to work with. Students will practice their creativity and innovation which are key STEM concepts. Students will take home what they make.

Elvia Klym

Elvia Klym is passionate about facilitating STEM project-based learning to cultivate students to be creative problem solvers. Elvia grew-up in Nashville and has her bachelor’s degree in engineering from The University of Tennessee. She has worked as an engineer in several areas including manufacturing, pre-production operations, vehicle testing, corporate training, and lean engineering consulting. She is currently a 9-12 engineering and unmanned aerial systems teacher at a local high school. (One-Day Girls Xplore and Girl Code Class)
