Class Format


  • Introduction and Overview: The instructor will explain the basics of drywall, including the various types and thicknesses, and discuss common types of wall damage.
  • Demonstration: A step-by-step demonstration of the patching process, including how to cut out the damaged area, measure and cut the new piece of drywall, secure the patch, and apply joint compound.
  • Hands-On Practice: Participants will work on individual practice walls to repair a hole in Sheetrock. Under the instructor’s guidance, they will cut and install a drywall patch, apply joint compound, and prepare the patch for painting.
  • Q&A and Troubleshooting: The instructor will discuss common issues, such as blending the repair with the surrounding wall, and offer tips for avoiding visible seams and bumps.
  • Final Review and Finishing Techniques: Participants will sand and smooth their patched areas and learn tips for painting and texturing the repair to match the existing wall.
