Learning the principals of Electricity. Students will explore and learn a variety of electrical systems from homes to computers to cars. Hands on experiences will open minds to the power of electricity.

Description – This class focuses on building Electrical circuit Projects using industrial diagrams. Students will function as professional engineers in understanding circuits operation, building projects utilizing Snap circuits kits and utilizing electrical testers such as ohmmeter, voltmeter and oscilloscope, student will perform circuit diagnostics to ensure that the finished product operates as intended by design. This class requires prior knowledge of basic circuits and limited familiarity with test equipment.

  • Meeting Time: 4 meetings, Thursdays from 5:00pm until 6:30pm

The class is built on a hands-on experiments using Snap Circuits to build, test and learn the principals of electrical voltage, current and resistance. Learning will cover most popular components such as Diodes, Resistors, Capacitors and a variety of Sensors for light and for sound. A portion of this class will cover AC circuits and will explain how electricity is generated and how transformers and rectifiers operate in our daily lives.

This class requires prior knowledge of basic circuits and limited familiarity with test equipment to test voltage, current and resistance. A total of 3 projects will be built and completed.

Ahmed Majeed Baali

Ahmed was born in Iraq and moved to the United States to seek college education. He attended Western Kentucky University (Electrical Engineering) and Arizona State University (graduate program in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on electronic circuit design). Ahmed began his career an Electrical system designer for a Robotics Company and ended his career after 30 years of service with Nissan. Currently working as consultant for Nissan in the electrical system group assisting engineers in diagnosing and resolving complex vehicle design issues.
